If I wanted wooden table then this would not be it. It does not feel or looks like wood and there is no way around it. So if you know what you are buying then this table stands for what it promise. It is good basic piece of furniture. Since it is basically some MDF board with black veneer it serves the purpose of very basic utility table. It is not super sturdy, it does not lie it is a wood, it is not super solid and you need to be gentle with how much you put on it and definitely no kid should ever sit on it or push hard.This is pretty delicate piece of furniture that will get you through few years of use if you are gentle with it and respect its limitations.It looks good. Especially from few feet away when the feel of the melamine veneer is lost in distance.If you cleverly decorate it with a great lamp, some nice flowers , good books and some little decorative piece you are all set.WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT T HIS PIECE:- the looks. It has very classic timeless looks The X supports add charm and some magic to it.- the color. I like the deep black color that provides fabulous contrast to other pieces.- the surface - SUPER GENEROUS! it is 24x24 inches.. imagine... two by two feet of table space.This is enough to accommodate night light, some gadgets, good book and leave plenty of room for yourbreakfast tray! I kid you not! You can put your whole tray on it or you can bring your best cup and saucer of coffee and it will look amazing and happy.-The height. I like the height. I was looking for night table that is great next to a bed that is not super high. It is easier said than done because most tables are either very tall or very short and add to it a large surface I was looking for and it was hopeless. If the table was low enough then it was also small and tinny.- Assembly is a breeze. If you are crafty or artsy or handy it will take no time at all. Like with all furniture that is not real wood but particle board filling be careful DO NOT TIGHT screws too much or they will go right through and or you will break the thread. Don't go hard. Go slowly and stop when you feel resistance. You can always go and screw bit more if need be but better go gently then too fast or else you will really loose the whole piece as if you mess up one screw in the strategic place it will all be ruined and won't work.- I have to say it again THE SURFACE is amazing! Yes.. I can fit everything on it including a cat. My cat immediately claimed the lower level and that was that. NO discussion. I ended up placing there a nice fluffy ship skin type of fake fabric and some padding and now it doubles as a kitty summer house :).I like it. I can't say I love it as I really would love it to be wood and super sturdy but since I spent few good weeks looking for something with large surface and decent looks and could not find anything I settled for this piece that will last me some time while I keep looking for solid wood. I prefer wood furniture especially in the bedroom so my search is not over but if you need something now and decent this is it.The price is really great too so after I am done with it I can donate it without any remorse.I am very pleasantly surprised at the quality of this table - it is sturdy and perfect as a side table. I took one star off the assembly only because it was super super easy....it wasn't hard, but the tiny screwdriver included was difficult to use - we ended up using just a standard screwdriver and was much much easier.If I needed another side table, I would purchase this again.Makes a great birdcage stand! Strong, stable, easily cleaned, and resists scratching. Attractive enough for the finches to sit in front of the living room window. ?It matches my desk, very sturdy on holding a heavy item I just like it.THIS is what an end table should be! It seems like most end tables out there are too short and not wide enough. This table is couch/chair height with plenty of width to have more than just one thing on it. It is very sturdy and was easy to put together.Fits perfectly in the intended space but the material for the price i expected it to be a bit better. I think the price is a bit much for the quality of material.If I didn’t have the matching desk I’d have bought used end tables from classifieds. Assembly uses small plastic “nuts” and screws to assemble pieces together. Not a bad pricePros: Wood is better quality engineered wood than other engineered wood we usually see. product has decent weight to it and isnt flimsy. Assembly is not tough if you are versed to see pictures and follow.Cons: The screws are a little thin on top to be able to absorb tightening pressure. sometimes get tilted. Allen wrench is a must when tightening the screws under the X metal bars (hardly any space) but i didnt get one. I see the instruction book has it cut out with a black pen.?
